A cosumer cannot sell his/her electricity generated from his residential rooftop solar to any party other than the local electricity distribution company. Under the net-metering arrangement under the PM Surya Ghar the surplus energy is taken your power company and they also compensate it accordingly. However, in commercial projects, solar project developers earn money from solar projects. But usually to make money and profits from solar plants, you need to invest more and go through other formalities
