Several solar companies provide Operations & Maintenance (O&M) service for the initial 5 years as the major components like solar panels and solar inverters provide warranty for this period. Some solar companies give regular monthly cleaning in a package during the time of installation either for a period of 5 years and even after that. There are also some companies dedicated to the O&M services at a cost. However, there are also several non-professional companies that have flourished. Some of them are seen using high pressure water and detergents to clean the solar panels. So please choose your O&M partner based on their team strength and background.

Size of solar inverter dependent on the equipments that are intended to be used while utility supply is down. Total load on inverter is equal to the sum of all nameplate rating of such equipments. While sizing, some equipment like air conditioner and refrigerators should be sized at 2/3 times normal rating to account for the high inrush current drawn by these equipments while starting. An additional 25 -30 % can be considered as buffer for future expansion.

That depends on the kind of system you have installed. The most common and prevalent system is a grid connected solar system, with no storage. In this case, your system will not work in case of a power cut or grid failure, as the solar panels are disconnected to the grid That is because your solar system generates energy and sends any excess energy to the grid. This die down in case of power cuts is critical for safety, as back feeding into the grid could potentially cause injury to someone.
