So the panels will be producing power but won’t be able to use it. In such cases, you need to use hybrid inverters with battery storage. In this system, one can use solar power even duiring blackouts.

    The efficiency of solar cells (or solar modules at large) means the capacity of the item to capture the sunlight falling onto it and convert it into electrician energy. It is calculated by the total electrical output of the solar cells, divided by the incident solar power input under standard test conditions. The figures are then multiplied by 100. Different type of solar cells produce different level of efficiency based on the technologies used. For example mono-PERC cells are more efficient than polycrystalline cells. Similarly, TOPCon cells are more efficient than mono-PERC cells.

    Several things can lower the amount of electricity your solar system produces. Dust, dirt, and bird droppings on panels (called soiling) can block sunlight, while cloudy or rainy weather naturally reduces how much sun your system gets.

    Even in perfect conditions, you won’t always get the maximum possible output. This is because your inverter, solar panels, and other equipment don’t work at 100% efficiency all the time. Over the years, solar panels also lose a little bit of their power—usually less than 1% per year. So, while your system may be designed for a certain output, real-world factors always bring that number down a bit.

For example if your meter has a capacity of 3 KW, you are allowed to install rooftop solar only upto 3 Kw. In case you want to install a 4 KW rooftop solar, you first need to increase your electricity meter capacity upto 4 KW before applying for rooftop solar.
