What environmental benefits come with installing a solar system?

In majority of the countries across the globe including India, the maximum amount of energy we consume in our households through the grid is derived from burning of coals, lignite, diesel or using gas. All of these are non-renewable energy sources and could be exhausted with overuse. Moreover, they also release green house gas during power production. When we use solar energy, we generate electricity directly from sunlight without burning anything.
