The additional surplus solar energy produced in rooftop solar setups in a grid-connected rooftop solar system is given to your electricity distribution company. The total number of surplus units not used by you and sent to the grid is also adjusted in your bill. So for example 100 units of surplus solar energy is not used by you and was sent to the grid, the electricity company while generating your bill will reduce 100 units from your total energy that used from the grid.
